Embroidered Christmas Cards

November 22, 2017

It’s time for another Christmas DIY : the embroidered Christmas cards.

There is two patterns : the “Christmas tree card”, and the “reindeer card”. The reindeer pattern is easier for children since it has less embroidery. The Christmas tree card is more for adults. As usual, you can decorate as much as you want and even create other pattern !

Since these DIY were really popular in the Id Creatives workshop, I decided to write a full blog post on how to make them.

That way, everyone can enjoy and make easy and beautiful Christmas DIY ?

CHRISTMAS CARD : EMBROIDERED CHRISTMAS TREE

What you need :

thick black paper, 1 needle, 35 cm gold ribbon, gold and silver pencils (Posca), thread : green, pink and blue, double-sided adhesive tape, paper punch, paper glue, glitter, scissors

Step 1 : Cut the thick black paper in a rectangular shape : 25 cm by 18,5 cm. Use the example above for the measures.

Download the Christmas tree pattern here. (Print it on a white A4 sheet of paper).

Step 2 : Perforate the paper using a needle. Follow the drawing lines you made using the example above.

Step 3 : Embroider the « Christmas tree» using the green thread and a needle. Be careful to not tear the paper.

Step 4 : Do the same for the Christmas baubles. I used pink and blue, but you can choose any other colors you want.

Step 5 : Decorate the card with gold and silver pencils : snowflakes, stars, diamonds … You can also add glitter.

Step 6 : Perforate the side of the card (all the measures are given in the example above).

Step 7 : Cut 1 small piece of double-sided adhesive tape. Put it on one of the ribbon’s end. Tape the end of the ribbon to the card’s interior.

Step 8 : Then insert your ribbon inside each holes you made and twist it every time (cf image). Cut one small piece of double-sided adhesive tape. Put it on the other ribbon’s end. Paste it to the card.

Your beautiful handmade card is all done ! You can use it as a Christmas frame on a table, or send it to Santa Claus !

CHRISTMAS CARD : EMBROIDERED REINDEER

For this card, the design is different, but the steps are the same : embroider, decorate, then add the ribbon all around the card.

If you want your children to do it, you have to not embroider the paws and the head since it’s a bit difficult. He can draw the paws and the head with a golden pencil.

Use the example above for the measures.

Download the reindeer pattern here. (Print it on a white A4 sheet of paper).
